Get hooked into the world of crochet! Learning to crochet is fun and quick with bulky wool and a big hook! Over the course of three lessons, students will learn and practice basic crochet stitches while making a selection of very practical potholders! Students will mix things up a bit in the final lesson by working with cotton yarn and a smaller hook to create a classic dishcloth, all while learning the fundamentals of pattern and chart reading! Whether you are an absolute beginner or just want to brush up on your skills, this fun class is for you! All supplies are included and no experience is necessary! Explore a modern take on a crochet classic with our fabulous instructor, Brenda! Learn how to crochet in the round - with multiple colours! - and whip up some quick squares - perfect for coasters, pillows, purses, blankets, and more! image4 (1) Basic crochet experience is required: students should have completed a few small projects on their own and are expected to know basic stitch terminology/how to make single and double crochet stitches. Supplies are not included - students should contact the shop for a complete supply list. Join our fabulous crochet instructor Brenda in learning the ups and downs of crocheting your own ripple blanket! Learn how strategically increase and decrease, as well as how to crochet with multiple colours! A perfect class for students who have mastered the basics of crochet, or for those who are looking for perfect gift ideas! image1 (3) While students won't complete an entire blanket during the workshop, they will have plenty of time to learn everything they need to know about crocheting ripple blankets! She is ready to be your personal knitting wizard, answer your questions, and generally make you get that project done. Expand your knitting skills and tap into your design abilities with this advanced knitting workshop from Maureen Ballagh. image4 A wonderful opportunity to learn new techniques in a supportive and encouraging environment. Let Maureen guide you through Fair Isle design and patterning conventions, choosing your colours, designing your unique pattern, and using stranded knitting techniques to work up your wrist warmers! Knit 301: Frankensocks!

Join in on the Frankensock/Scrappy Sock/Blender Sock/Happy Feet craze with our in-house Frankensock enthusiasts Donna and Jess! Create your own one-of-a-kind Frankensocks using a wide variety of colour options! image_medium2-9 Our two instructors will guide you through the ins and outs of knitting your first pair of socks, while incorporating a focus on colour play and different Frankensock techniques! image_medium2-3 Needles and a Frankensock yarn kit are included, though students are welcome to supplement their kit with any sock yarn scraps they may have in their stash! image_medium2-4 This is an advanced knitting workshop: students are expected to be comfortable casting on, knitting, purling, ribbing, increasing, decreasing, working in the round, and binding off. Knit 301: Top-Down Cardigan

Date(s): Thursday, Nov 9, 16, 23, Dec 7, and 14 from 6-8 PM
Explore the merits of top down sweater construction with Maureen Ballagh! Using the Louise Top Down cardigan from Carrie Bostick Hoge as a basis for exploration, Maureen will help you navigate your first sweater in this five week workshop! image1 (5) Week one will explore gauge and needle size, measuring for size and fit, and an overview of top down sweater construction. Week two will dive into casting on and knitting to the sleeve separation. Week three will cover sleeve separation techniques and beginning the body of your sweater. (There will be a two week break before week 4, to allow students to knit the body of their sweater!) Week four will look at picking up stitches for your sleeve and sleeve construction. Week five will finish with button and neck band options! This is an advanced level knitting workshop, with plenty of knitting to do between classes. In addition to basic stitches (knit, purl, ribbing), students are expected to know how to increase and decrease, and should be comfortable knitting in the round on circular needles. Yarn and needles are not included - students should contact the shop for a complete supply list. Students will receive a 15% discount on class supplies they purchase from the shop! Knit 301: Short Row Cowl

Tackle short rows head-on with this new course from Wabi Sabi! Let our instructor Robin guide you as you whip up a quick and classic cowl, just in time for the holiday season! New skills will include knitting short rows, the Sunday method of resolving short rows, and knitting a stretchy bind off.
