Weaving night at Wabi Sabi!

Weavers on Friday, September 25th join us for an evening of weaving with Marie-France at Wabi Sabi from 6:30-9pm! Bring your loom, your projects (both finished and unfinished- we love show and tell) and your ideas! Its all about sharing ;) If you need to warp up your loom you are welcome to use our space. This evening is free of charge but space is limited so please register online!

Drop Spindle

Date(s): October 25th from 12:30-3:30pm
Join local fibre artist Maggie Glossop and learn how to spin using a drop spindle. This is a great beginners class! You will learn how to draft and spin a continuous thread. Drop spindle and materials are included and no experience is necessary.   Please note: Student cancellations less than 2 weeks prior to the class will not be refunded.

Wheel Spinning 101

Date(s): November 14th from 10:00-1:00pm
Join Maggie Glossop for this spinning class. She will teach you the basics of spinning on a wheel. You will learn how to draft and spin a continuous thread. Wheels are provided, but if you have a wheel- bring your own (please let us know if you will be bringing a wheel). Materials are included. Take your spinning to the next level with Maggie Glossop. She has been spinning and teaching for 30 years! She will help you improve your spinning and be more consistent. This is a great way to get feedback on your technique and tips on how to improve your spinning skills. Please bring your own wheel and fibre. Weaving 101

Introduction to Weaving on a Rigid Heddle Loom

Date(s): September 16th and 23rd from 6:00-9:00pm
In this class you will receive 6 hours of instruction over two evenings, you will learn the basics of weaving with the rigid heddle loom creating a 12 inch wide scarf/shawl using two colours. Don't have your own loom yet? No worries,  we will provide you with a  loom that you will be able to take home and work on your project provided you leave us with a fully refundable deposit. Yarn is not included as you will pick your desired colours on the first night of class. No experience required. Please note: Student cancellations less than 2 weeks prior to the class will not be refunded.

Magazine Basket

Learn this amazing skill of weaving with household recyclables- magazines, cereal boxes, tetra boxes and newspaper! In this class you will learn basic weaving skills and make a fun and versatile basket. Janet Whittam has taught many students of all ages to weave cloth and baskets. Come and explore the boundless possibilities that exist within weaving! Materials included. No experience necessary. Introduction to Weaving on a Shaft Loom

Date(s): September 27th from 10:00-4:00pm & September 30th, October 7 and 14th from 6:00-9:00pm
In this class you will receive 15 hours of instruction, you will learn the basics of weaving, how to make a warp, how to weave a twill scarf as well as some nifty finishing techniques. Don't have your own loom yet? No worries,  we will provide you with a  loom that you will be able to take home and work on your project provided you leave us with a fully refundable deposit. Yarn is not included as you will pick your desired colours on the first night of class. Tapestry Weaving

Date(s): October 3rd from 1:00-4:00pm
  Join us for this 3 hour class and learn the basic stitches of tapestry weaving. You will learn basic techniques, patterns and tricks and have lots of fun. No experience is necessary, all materials are included, however if you would like a frame to take home they will be available for purchase with a 5% discount. Please note: Student cancellations less than 2 weeks prior to the class will not be refunded.

Learn this amazing skill of weaving with materials found in your own back yarn and surrounding outdoors- vines, iris and day lily leaves and much more! In this class you will learn basic weaving skills and make a fun and versatile basket. Janet Whittam has taught many students of all ages to weave cloth and baskets.
