Hand-Stitching with Indigo
Date(s) - 15 Jul 2018 12:30 PM - 3:30 PM
Inspired by the third issue of Making Magazine, local textile artist Maureen Ballagh would like to invite you to help bust her stash of indigo dyed fabrics and threads!
Explore hand stitching, sewing, and embroidery techniques to create your own little “slow stitched” textile gem! Students are welcome to explore any sewn project inspired by Making No. 3: Dots, whether it be a simple hand-stitched bag or a heavily textured french knot sampler!
Each student will be provided with enough materials to create one project. Students will be able to choose from a selection of Shibori indigo dyed fabrics and threads, including both cotton and linen. Students are also welcome to bring and include materials from their own stash, including threads, fabrics… and even old denim!
Students will be responsible for bringing sewing needles and a pair sharp scissors. Students who wish to experiment with embroidery stitches should also bring an embroidery hoop.
Cancellation Policy: Should the store cancel a class, a total refund or store credit will be issued, however, participants must cancel a class at least 2 weeks before the class is scheduled in order to receive a full refund or store credit.
