Knit 301: Scandalous Steeking!

Date(s) - 30 Apr 2017 until 7 May 2017 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM

Are you interested in knitting gorgeous Fair Isle, Icelandic and Scandinavian patterns, but scratch your head when they ask you to cut into your work? Have no fear – our knit whiz Josee is here!

Learn to cut a steek through your knitted fabric and you’ll have the tools to tackle any stranded colorwork pattern! On garments, steeks can be used to create arm and neck openings, pockets, or cardigan fronts, allowing you to knit stranded colour work continuously without having to stop to make holes. And yes – you do actually cut into your work!

In this class, students will cut a steek through a mug cozy. In the first class, you’ll cast on your mug cozy and learn more about Fair Isle colour work. In the second class, you’ll learn different ways to reinforce your steek (students will choose a crochet or sewn reinforcement) and then cut into your fabric with scissors! The class will finish with picking up stitches to work a button band, and some tips and tricks to get a beautiful and neat finishing for your facings!

Supplies are not included, but students will receive a 15% discount on supplies they purchase in the shop! Please contact the shop for a complete supply list.

Please note: Student cancellations less than 2 weeks prior to the class will not be refunded.

This event is fully booked.
