Knit 301: Top-Down Cardigan
Date(s) - 9 Nov 2017 until 14 Dec 2017 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM
Explore the merits of top down sweater construction with Maureen Ballagh! Using the Louise Top Down cardigan from Carrie Bostick Hoge as a basis for exploration, Maureen will help you navigate your first sweater in this five week workshop!
Week one will explore gauge and needle size, measuring for size and fit, and an overview of top down sweater construction. Week two will dive into casting on and knitting to the sleeve separation. Week three will cover sleeve separation techniques and beginning the body of your sweater. (There will be a two week break before week 4, to allow students to knit the body of their sweater!) Week four will look at picking up stitches for your sleeve and sleeve construction. Week five will finish with button and neck band options!
This is an advanced level knitting workshop, with plenty of knitting to do between classes. In addition to basic stitches (knit, purl, ribbing), students are expected to know how to increase and decrease, and should be comfortable knitting in the round on circular needles.
Yarn and needles are not included – students should contact the shop for a complete supply list. Students will receive a 15% discount on class supplies they purchase from the shop! (A copy of the pattern will be provided to each student.)
Cancellation Policy: Should the store cancel a class, a total refund or store credit will be issued, however, participants must cancel a class at least 2 weeks before the class is scheduled in order to receive a full refund or store credit.
