Rigid Heddle Weaving 201: Cheeky Checks!
Date(s) - 26 May 2018 until 2 Jun 2018 10:30 AM - 1:30 PM
So you know how to sling a shuttle, but aren’t quite sure what to do next? That’s where our intermediate rigid heddle workshop comes in! From warping up your loom to twisting your last fringe, Emily is ready to guide you through your first big project!
Each student will explore the ins and outs of warping their own loom with two or more colours, spreading their warp, weaving stripes/checks, removing their project from the loom, and twisting their fringe! Students will have the option of adding hemstitching to their work. The final session will conclude with a discussion on washing/fulling and next projects!
Each student will be provided their own loom for the duration of the course. Students will be asked to make a deposit on the first day in order to take the loom home between sessions.
Basic weaving experience is recommended – either Rigid Heddle Weaving 101 or Tapestry Weaving 101 (or equivalent). Students should already have a basic understanding of how make plain weave – the course will focus more on setting up the loom and designing your own scarf. Ages 13 and up!
