Andean DK by Estelle

Posted by Judith Enright on

Here at Wabi Sabi, we refer to some of our yarns as “work horse” yarns. This is really not a very flattering label and we should probably try to come up with another description. But we call them our work horse yarns because they are dependable and durable and very affordable yet very often over looked.

One of these work horse yarns is Andean DK from Estelle,  a Peruvian wool that is available in both undyed natural shades and an impressive array of colours and heather shades.  Andean DK is 100% natural and smooth and lovely to the touch. With its great stitch definition, Andean DK is suited for a multitude of knitting projects, ideal for colour work and perfect for defined textures like cables or seed stitch.  Andean DK has a consistent spin that makes it predictable and a true delight to work with.

We have whipped up two shop samples on display soon at Wabi Sabi that were both knitted with Andean DK. One is Mount Pleasant, a cropped sweater knit with only 2 skeins of Andean DK colour #1 white. The other is Ildy again knit with only 2 skeins of colour 902 Water Waves. How affordable is that !
