Welcome to Wabi-Sabi's first Knit-A-Long of 2021! This event features patterns designed by Japanese Canadian twin sisters Kiyomi and Sachiko Burgin. Although it was a tough challenge to pick only one pattern from each of them, we did our best to find something that would appeal to a broad variety of potential participants, as well as work with the changes in weather we hope are coming soon. You can choose to knit either pattern for the KAl...or both, if you're feeling ambitious!
This event will kick off at 11 AM on April 17th, Local Yarn Store Day, and run for just over 5 weeks. Our cast-off party will be on May 25th. There's a $5 entrance fee to participate, payable in-store and online. Patterns can be purchased directly from Ravelry, or for those of you interested in printed copies, via our website. All printed patterns will be held at the store for pickup, unless you request that we send them by post.
We'll feature Zoom Calls every Tuesday at 7 PM, to catch up with each other and chat about what part of our project we're on, as well as celebrate the group's yarn successes and commiserate over our yarn sufferings. No project help will be provided during these zoom calls, but project help will be available from project-help@wabi-sabi.ca.
The $5 participation fees will be donated to the Ottawa Japanese Community Association & Cultural Centre.
Without further ado, we present: the Wabi-Sabi Spring KAL Patterns!

Osaka-jo Socks by Sachiko Burgin
Lovely, lacy socks with a design inspired by the architecture of Ōsaka-jō (Osaka Castle). The lace stitches naturally create a three-dimensional texture as you work them, with a picot-edge cuff for added eye-catching texture.
The Osaka-jo socks are knit using a fingering weight yarn, and you'll need 384 m / 420 yards to knit a pair. The pattern has sizing for ankle circumferences ranging from 18 cm - 23 cm (7"-9").
