Amigurumi is the Japanese art of crocheting or knitting small animals or humanlike creatures. The name comes from the combination of the words ami, meaning knitted or crocheted, and nuigurumi which means stuffed dolls.
These kits include everything except the hooks (4mm), needles, and plain sewing thread needed sew them up. They are rated as easy/intermediate: not the best project to learn on, but a great little kit for when you're ready to try your hand at some new techniques.
Better yet, these kits are a treat for your hands, too. The yarn is DHG (oeko-Tex certified) extra-fine merino wool, and the stuffing is a hypoallergenic recycled polyester. Each kit comes boxed with the instructions, eyes, embroidery thread, and and trimming to make up the animal pictured.
DHG was founded in 2007, and is focussed on combining the world of production with the worlds of art and textile craftsmanship. Their business model has never been separated from a concern for the environment, and in the past few years have made great investment in rendering their production less harmful on the environment by focussing on eco friendly, Oeko-Tex and GOTS certifications.
