These models have two ratios for even more flexibility and control when carding and blending. Use the 6:1 ratio to prepare your fleece. The controlled intake and carding will produce a smooth even batt ready for blending, spinning or felting. Use the 4:1 ratio to blend sliver, colours and different fibre types consistently into an open and airy batt. Adjustable drum clearance - allows you to set the teeth distance for total control of your fibre. All nylon bearings ensure it is light and easy to turn. The card cloth has wire teeth with a special protective coating and a flexible rubber backing for long life. The carder is strong and robust with the body made from Silver Beech hardwood. The carder has rubber feet to prevent it slipping. Card 50gm (2oz) batt quickly and efficiently. It comes assembled and lacquered ready to use.
The fine drum carder has 72 ppsi cloth, and the super fine drum carder has 120 ppsi cloth.
The wide drum carder produces a much larger, 100g (4 oz) batt, and makes a 12" x 24" batt of fibre. It is available only with 72 ppsi cloth, and weighs 8.4 kg / 18.5 lbs). It has an adjustable drum clearance, and comes assembled, lacquered, and ready to use. Like all Ashford drum carders, it is made of sturdy silver beech hardwood.
The wild drum carder is designed for fabulous, fun, and funky art yarns. The extra long 72 ppsi teeth allow for the inclusion of different fibres, fabric, ribbon, feathers, paper and other novelties to create unique blends. The drum clearance is adjustable, which allows you to set the teeth distance for total control of your art fibre. The card cloth has wire teeth, and it will card up to 40g of fibre at once in 24" x 4" batts. This carder weighs only 3.5kg / 7.5 lbs.
The Ashford e-drum carder includes an infinitely variable speed control for both drums, plus a ratio control to vary the in-feed speed. The acrylic safety covers over the drums and drive belts, and it has a magnetic safety switch, for safe use. It has stepped tooth non-slip drive belts with belt tensioners and an additional on/off switch that allows for hands-free fibre preparation and feeding. In reverse, for fibre removal, the drum rotates at 10% carding speed, and the drums can be removed to clean the bearings.

Alternately, we can make arrangements for the supplier to drop ship the item directly to your home. As soon as your item arrives at the shop, you will be notified for pickup or with a tracking number once we ship your order to you.
If you change your mind and would like your item refunded before the order is placed with the supplier, we can cancel it with no penalty, however, once we have placed the order and the item is shipped to us, we are not able to offer refunds on special ordered items.
