Color3002 moorit

Fjallalopi is the new member of the Lopi family! It is half the thickness of Léttlopi. Suitable for lighter garments for children and adults alike.

Icelandic wool is different from most wools in that it has two distinct fibres:  one fibre that is long-stapled and with a sheen that repels water, and one that is soft, insulating, and provides an astounding degree of warmth. Fjallalopi is an authentic Icelandic yarn spun to a dk weight, and is perfect for creating durable outer garments that will keep you warm in even the coldest of winters. Rustic and honest, it comes in a beautiful palette of traditional colours, which can be used to make beautiful colourwork sweaters and accessories. Because of its wooly nature, lopi yarn  felts beautifully.

icelandic wool

icelandic wool

Wool from the Icelandic sheep breed consists of two types of fiber. The inner fiber is fine, soft, and warm and the outer fiber is long, glossy and water-repellent. Together this combination is lightweight and warm as well as water-repellent and breathable, keeping you dry and comfortable.

mulesing free

mulesing free

Mulesing is a controversial farming practice used, predominantly in Australia, to prevent the parasidic infection flystrike. While mulesing prevents infection, it is a very painful procedure for the animal to endure, and more humane alternatives exist. This practice is banned in many areas of the world. If a yarn is marked as mulesing free, that means that no animals were treated this way during the production of the yarn.
