Stranded mittens are always popular, and Flora Mittens by Skeindeer Knits are done in a worsted weight yarn, so they work up fairly quickly. If the intricate patterning of Norwegian mittens has caught your eye, Flora is a great introduction to the techniques used when knitting this type of mitten.
prerequisites
Participants must have experience knitting smal litems in the round with dpns or magic loop, should have at least one stranded project in the round, and know how to read a chart for stranded knitting.
what you'll learn
Students will learn how to knit a mitten in the Norwegian (Selbu region) tradition, using this as a project to continue learning stranded knitting techniques. Beyond the mechanics of the knitting, the design and structure of these mittens will also be discussed.
what to bring
You will need 2 colours of worsted weight yarn, and 3.5mm and 4.0mm needles in double pointed or magic loop lengths (or size needed for your personal gauge).
The pattern for this class is included in the class fee, and will be provided to you a few days before class starts. For reference, it can be found here: https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/flora-53
