Socks are the perfect project: portable, colourful, and ever-so-useful. Most sock yarns blend a reinforcing material like nylon, silk, or ramie with wool for a balance of elasticity, warmth, and durability. Generally speaking, the less soft the yarn, the more durably it will wear. While most sock yarns fall into the fingering weight category, not all of them do: we try to carry a few sport and DK-weight varieties seasonally for extra-warm, trail-ready socks fit for a Canadian winter.
