rooted in tradition and rich with character
Donegal twists is a yarn that we would categorize as a storyteller. The Storyteller carries the echoes of older traditions. These yarns come from heritage fibres, time-honoured spinning methods, and colour palettes shaped by generations of makers. Working with them connects today’s projects to the long, shared history of textile craft.
Storytellers are often a little rustic by nature. They may feel more “sheepy” than modern processed yarns and can be better suited to outerwear or layered garments if you have sensitive skin. Give them the care they deserve: swatch thoughtfully and follow laundering instructions.

Using 4.00 mm (US 6) needles (or whatever your pattern recommends), cast on 10 stitches. Knit 6 rows. Repeat the following 2 rows until the work measures 3":
- knit 3, purl to the last 3 stitches, knit 3

Knit 6 more rows and cast off. Wash and block using the same method you will use for the finished item. Measure and count your gauge across the middle stitches of the swatch.
