Don’t let the thought of cutting your knitting strike fear in your heart! Cutting openings in hand-knitted garments is a time-honoured traditional technique that contributes to their production in an efficient way. There are things to keep in mind and ways to prepare your garments prior to taking your dressmaking shears to your knitted fabric – all straightforward and achievable. This workshop will explore several different techniques for stabilizing knitted stitches so they can be cut without fear of unraveling. Participants can make a set of coasters from pattern provided or prepare their own fabric to cut.

Required Skills
Ability to prepare a knitted fabric in 100% non-superwash wool for cutting.

What to Bring
Your piece of knitted fabric, already knit.  The instructor will email you a pattern and information prior to class!

This class takes place from 1pm - 3pm on Saturday, March 15.

cancellation policy

Cancelled classes may be refunded to store credit if we receive notification 14 days in advance of the first class. If the cancellation is within two weeks of the start date of the first class, a refund to store credit will be issued only if we are able to fill the spot.

Very last minute cancellations (within 48 hours) are not eligible for refund in any form, as it does not allow us fair time to attempt to fill the spot.

We do not offer partial or full refund, in the form of store credit or alternate dates, for missed classes unless they are cancelled by the shop due to weather or similar calamity.

This policy is to let us keep prices as low as possible while ensuring that our instructors are fairly compensated for the time spent prepping and teaching their classes.
