made in Peru

This is it, the original Worsted that made Malabrigo an international favorite! A buttery-soft single ply of fine Uruguayan Merino wool, this yarn has excellent stitch definition, comes in an enormous rainbow of colors (solids, semisolid, and variegated), and is deliciously squishy and cozy. It’s also fantastic for felting projects! Like all our yarns, It is kettle-dyed in small batches by our artisan dyers.

Great for: Accessories and hand-wash-friendly garments, next-to-skin wear, cables, textured stitches, color-work, felting, anything where warmth and comfort are a factor!

  • malabrigo

A family-owned yarn company located in Uruguay and Peru, Malabrigo has developed a line of hand-dyed yarns of incredible softness and colour variations. Their products are made out of the softest fibres available, and their colours are inspired by nature, places, art, and day-to-day life.
  • merino wool

Merino sheep create a wool with a long, smooth fibre that is lightweight, warm, and soft. Like all wool, it has excellent breathability and does an excellent job regulating temperature in garments. It is a very popular type of wool to use for hand knitting yarn, and is a great choice for socks and garments worn close to the skin.
  • mulesing free

Mulesing is a controversial farming practice used, predominantly in Australia, to prevent the parasidic infection flystrike. While mulesing prevents infection, it is a very painful procedure for the animal to endure, and more humane alternatives exist. This practice is banned in many areas of the world. If a yarn is marked as mulesing free, that means that no animals were treated this way during the production of the yarn.
