Featuring Bluefaced Leicester wool, Leo is a lofty fingering weight yarn ideal for strong socks, sweaters, mitts, and other projects that call for a formidable yet cozy fibre.
Hand-dyed with professional wash-fast acid dyes in my cat-friendly home studio. I take great care to set dye colours and then rinse yarns until no dye bleeds, however there may be some colour in your water at first wash due to differences in water properties. Please be aware that photo colours vary slightly from screen to screen.
If your yarn creation requires more than one skein of the same yarn, it is very important to alternate skeins every row to blend; the beauty of hand-dyed yarn is that no two skeins are exactly the same, even when dyed in the same batch.
Hand wash in cool water and lay flat to dry for best longevity.
designed for a job, and excellent at it
Leo bfl sock is a yarn that we would categorize as a specialist. Some yarns are generalists. Specialist yarns are not. These are designed to excel at a particular task: durable sock yarns, sturdy weaving yarns, hardworking cottons for dishcloths and utility knits. When used for their intended purpose, they perform beautifully.
Designed for socks, this yarn holds up to wear while maintaining stitch definition and elasticity. It’s spun with extra twist and reinforced with nylon, giving it extra strength and resilience for high-wear projects.
Specialists are happiest doing the job they were designed for. Using them outside that role can lead to unexpected results: less elasticity, different wear, or a fabric that behaves differently than you expect. Swatching is especially helpful if you’re planning to experiment.
