Jamieson & Smith's Shetland Jumper Weight is the yarn Fair Isle was built on. Spun from 100% Shetland wool on the islands themselves, it has the natural characteristics that make traditional colourwork so effective: a slight stickiness that helps stitches nestle together, good natural elasticity, and a rustic warmth that softens beautifully with blocking. Available in a full palette of solid and heathered shades that includes many of the traditional Shetland colours. Not superwash treated; hand wash or handle with care. If you're knitting Fair Isle or stranded colourwork, this is the real deal.

rooted in tradition and rich with character

Shetland jumper weight is a yarn that we would categorize as a storyteller. The Storyteller carries the echoes of older traditions. These yarns come from heritage fibres, time-honoured spinning methods, and colour palettes shaped by generations of makers. Working with them connects today’s projects to the long, shared history of textile craft.

Storytellers are often a little rustic by nature. They may feel more “sheepy” than modern processed yarns and can be better suited to outerwear or layered garments if you have sensitive skin. Give them the care they deserve: swatch thoughtfully and follow laundering instructions.
