Our superb Signature 4ply is made using a blend of wool that includes 35% Bluefaced Leicester for a luxurious feel, with a twist of nylon for added strength. This makes it ideal for projects such as hard-wearing socks, or stylish shawls with fantastic drape and softness. This yarn comes in a wide choice of solid shades including vibrant tones, classic colours and natural hues to suit all styles and stitches, whether you’re knitting plain, cable, rib or lace.
The wool has proudly won ‘Best Sock Yarn’ at the British Knitting and Crochet Awards for several years running.

wool
Wool is a textile fibre produced by the shearing of sheep. The breed of the sheep, where it was raised, and how the fibre was treated after shearing can all affect the final characteristics of wool. While some is quite harsh and rough, other wool can be luxuriously soft and squishy. As a fibre, wool is very good at trapping heat, and is one of the few fibres that stays warm even when wet.
blue-faced leicester wool
One of the finest of the English longwool breeds, BFL fiber is soft and has a long staple length. When worsted spun, it creates a soft yarn with wonderful stitch definition that is resistant to pilling. Once called the "silk of the British Isles", it has a fine and durable quality, with excellent warmth and softness.
polyamide / nylon
Nylon is a synthetic material that is often used to provide structure, stability and strength to yarns made with other, softer fibres. A nylon content of at least 15% is recommended for socks.
