First Socks

A first pair of socks is a rite of passage for many knitters - they are small, portable projects that can be as basic or as intricate as the knitter wants, and once you start wearing them, you'll know why they are so popular.  Join us for this class and work through your own first pair of socks.  We'll be using a multi-sized and multi-gauged pattern, so there is something to suit everyone.

These socks are knit from cuff to toe, with a heel flap and gussets.

required skills:

• you must be able to cast on, knit and purl in the round.
• you should be familiar with how to work small circumferences in the round using double pointed needles.

what the class teaches:

• how to knit a pair of socks, including:
• how to make a reinforced heel flap
• how to turn a heel
• how to create a gusset
• toe construction

what to bring

• a printed copy of the free pattern (linked in description)
• 100g ball of sock yarn (fingering or dk weight)
• a set of needles appropriate to chosen yarn (see pattern for details)
• a pen or pencil for notes
